The workers at the PepsiCo plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina have begun an indefinite occupation of the factory to guard the machinery and their jobs.

The multinational company is one of the biggest in the food industry. In 2016, it had profits of more than $10 billion dollars worldwide. It illegally closed down the Vicente López plant leaving 600 families on the streets.

The company filed for economic hardship in the labor courts. However, just last April they announced that in the first trimester the company recorded earnings of $1.3 million dollars, 41.5% more than the same period in 2016.

Argentina is in the midst of an ongoing economic crisis with companies illegally conducting massive layoffs against workers, breaking Argentina’s labor laws and international agreements.

We demand the immediate reopening of the PepsiCo plant and the reinstatement of the workers.

We support the workers and all the actions they take up in the struggle. We are launching a national campaign: “Boycott Lay’s or PepsiCo products” until the plant is reopened and the workers are back at work.

We are calling on everyone to take part in this solidarity campaign- from individuals to labor unions. Send photos of support to [email protected].

Let’s Make a Historic May Day for This Historic Moment

As encampments for Palestine are being organized all over the country, it is essential for us to heed the call of Palestinian labor unions and mobilize on May Day. We must unite workers and students in a movement against the genocide, against repression, and for a free Palestine.
